How did we evaluate STVS?

We evaluated STVS through a pretest–posttest study with 38 Chinese undergraduate and postgraduate students from 19 language majors, including
Arabic, Czech, English, Estonian, French, German, Hebrew, Icelandic, Indonesian, Japanese, Lithuanian, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Thai, Turkish, Urdu, and Vietnamese.

Participants used STVS three times per week for two months. After the study, they achieved higher reading comprehension scores and showed improved speaking performance in complexity, accuracy, and fluency (CAF). We also conducted semi-structured interviews to gather usability feedback and identify areas for further improvement.

Overall, the results suggest that STVS delivers promising usability and learning outcomes across a diverse set of languages, highlighting its potential to support linguistic diversity.

We are currently recruiting additional users to expand the number of languages tested in STVS. If you’re interested, please contact us at stories.to.voices.studio@gmail.com.
